    International Latin Music Hall of Fame

    Inductees and award nominees were recently announced for the first annual International Latin Music Hall of Fame (ILMHF). A non-profit organization, the ILMHF is dedicated to paying tribute to those Latin artist who have helped bring Latin music to the forefront in world-wide music scene. Birdland, the jazz & Latin club in New York City, will be host for the ceremony to be held on April 7, 1999.

    "There are literally hundreds of artists that deserve to be inducted, after all, Latin music has a history of more than 125 years...we have a lot of catching up to do. We will eventually induct all those that deserve to be so honored." says Joe Hernandez, Founder and President of the ILMHF. "In the meantime, Latinos should feel immense pride in the extraordinary worldwide resurgence of our music. Whether you are in Japan or Jerusalem, France or Finland, "salsa" bands are springing up everywhere as people enjoy and catch the "Latin music fever".

    This year's Hall of Fame inductees are:

    * Johnny Ventura,
