LP Rumba Ensemble - Montvale Rumba
    Latin Percussion

    By: Ben Ohmart
    May 28, 2003

    Artist: LP Rumba Ensemble
    Title: Montvale Rumba
    Label: Latin Percussion Inc. (www.lpmusic.com)

For those of you who love Latin for its beat and wish all singers and horn players could be fired on the spot, your premiere label should be the aptly named Latin Percussion Inc., because this is their life and livelihood. And as the best example, you should really take a listen to Montvale Rumba, the first new release in over 20 years by LP Music founder Martin Cohen.

The opening track and 'Something Crazy' are almost completely rhythm. The entire 10 track cd is a tour de force of beat, beaten by some of the best in the business. To list the crew's credits - or even their instruments - would take several pages. Suffice it to say, one listen to the RA samples on the website will make you a believer. And should instruct you that what LP Music is doing needs to be encouraged.
